The ESCP Energy Society and ESCP Alumni Energy Group are proud to launch the inaugural Watts & Waves Forum — an exclusive event dedicated to advancing strategic dialogue on the Water–Energy Nexus and its defining role in the energy transition.
Taking place on 27 April at ESCP Montparnasse Campus and supported by ESCP's Energy Management Centre, the forum brings together global perspectives from policy, industry practice, and innovation to explore how water constraints and energy transition objectives interact—and how practical solutions can be delivered at scale.
With climate change, tighter regulations, and growing demand, the interdependencies between water and energy are becoming major operational constraints for most economic activities.
The Watts & Waves Forum explores the water–energy nexus, i.e. the fact that these two resources are fundamentally linked: there is no water without energy (capture, treatment, transport, desalination, agriculture, etc.), and no energy without water (cooling, hydroelectricity, hydrogen, mining, etc.).
Scientists, business leaders, and stakeholders from finance, agriculture, and industry, alongside innovative start-ups, will discuss the current state of play and explore solutions to address these challenges.
Objectives of the Forum
- To take a systemic approach to two increasingly interdependent resources;
- To examine the topic first from a physical perspective (geology, chemistry, flows) in order to build a deeper understanding, before addressing economic and governance dimensions at a subsequent forum;
- To bring together scientists, industrialists, financiers, water and energy operators, and innovative start-ups.
