The Research Centre for Energy Management (EMC) at ESCP Europe is delighted to report that 2013 was a great success. It saw our first intake of Master in Energy Management students, and our third cohort of Executive Master in Energy Management participants. 

We also launched a new set of Advanced Master Classes in business, covering a range of topics relating to Finance, Economics and Energy Management.

The past year saw a range of successful events: the 51st EWGCFM Meeting and 1st EMC conference took place at the ESCP Europe London campus; in June, we hosted the FEBS/LabEx-ReFi 2013 conference at our Paris campus; and in September we organised the Energy Developments in South-East Mediterranean Conference at the Hellenic Centre. 

Additionally, the EMC participated in a series of major industry related conferences organised by our affiliates and media partners: The UK Energy Summit 2013, the Franco-British Energy Conference 2013, the 2nd Annual Frankfurt Gas Forum, and the 4th National Conference of the Financial Engineering and Banking Society.

2014 is shaping up to be just as active and interesting. The EMC is proud to announce the following events:

  • A Chatham House style roundtable discussion taking place on 17th February at the ESCP Europe London campus. This event will focus on Oil and Gas Perspectives in the 21st Century and will be led by Dr. Vlasios Voudouris.
  • The 2nd International EMC conference and 53rd EWGCFM Meeting taking place in Chania, Crete, 22-24 May, 2014, co-chaired by Dr. Kostas Andriosopoulos.  
  • We have launched a new series of Invited talks. Participants of our energy programmes and Alumni will attend to explore the latest energy issues across the globe, looking at the challenges presented and the opportunities available therein.

The 2013 Frankfurt Gas Forum (FGF) is an annual platform that was inaugurated in 2012 from the European Union Commissioner for Energy Mr. Günther Oettinger. The Forum aimed to bring world gas business leaders, European and German energy and financial senior executives together with public policy decision makers, to facilitate financial and commercial agreements in natural gas industry. The purpose of the FGF was to promote investments and to bring natural gas companies and the government leaders to Frankfurt am Main, the Metropolis of German and European Finance.

Based on extensive market research with the Caspian and Mediterranean oil & gas leaders, the focus of the Forum was on successfully realizing the gas pipelines of the Southern Corridor, namely TAP and TANAP, the momentum of South Stream, and the development of Eastern Mediterranean offshore projects.
